  • Founded August 2021, Sequoia TR’s roots begin with a beloved specialized recreation program that served the community for decades. During COVID-19, many local programs were reorganized, and our founder—who spent 21 years leading those services—saw an opportunity to continue that legacy in a new way. Families encouraged her to start something independent, and Sequoia TR became a nonprofit in 2021.

    Sequoia Therapeutic Recreation provides one-on-one services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). Service activities are based on client driven goals, with the most frequent goal being finding a place and the skills to make friends. Using sport, social, and recreational programs, we provide a safe space for participants to make and maintain social relationships within our community. Parents and caregivers are given respite and find a community of support together while their children/ clients are participating in programs and activities.
