Sequoia Social (Spring)

Bowling (Spring)
Join Sequoia TR for a 10-week social recreational bowling session with friends. Meet at Bowlero Lanes of Lakewood. Bowling starts at 4pm, practice bowling is from 3:50-4pm. Teams of three will bowl two games, no lane switching. All levels welcome. Please tell us if you would like to bowl with a specific friend. STR staff will do our best to partner folks together. Registration fee includes shoe rentals and games.

Water Works!
Join us for fun fitness in the water at Roger's Aquatic Center in Puyallup. Choose from swimming laps or water aerobics. We will be using kick boards, enjoying music and having fun. Family members are also invited to sign up and join in on the fun. Sequoia TR will be leading the fitness class not teaching swimming lessons. We ask that registrants be comfortable in the water, and be willing and ready to have fun! Feel free to bring goggles, nose plugs, or swim caps if you want. Folks need to pull their hair up and wear regular swimming trunks/suits (no cut off jeans or shorts in the pool). Thanks to a generous grant we are able to offer this activity at the fraction of the cost! Take advantage and get moving.

Rainier's Baseball Bash!
Meet us at Cheney Stadium at 5:00 pm to party before the first pitch in the Party Deck. Watch the Tacoma Rainiers vs Salt Lake Bees. We will be watching the baseball game from the Party Deck off of 3rd base; it’s reserved exclusively for our group and it’s ADA accessible. Experience includes delicious buffet dinner and refillable drinks. Watch the game while hanging with your friends sitting at a picnic table, or traditional baseball seats. We have 12 parking passes and encourage folks to car pool and arrive early. The parking lot fills up! STR staff will greet Shuttle riders at the front gate - be sure to let us know how you plan to arrive and depart. Game time starts at 6:05pm. We cannot predict the ending time but suggest a 9pm pick up time if you ride Shuttle. Otherwise, we can text your ride in the 9th inning for a better estimate. Tickets are limited. All folks who plan to attend need to register and receive a ticket for admission. While we completely understand things come up at the last minute if you have to cancel we are requesting that folks who use DDA to for pay for activities to make an equal donation to Sequoia TR to help recover the expense of your ticket. DDA will not pay for services if they were not delivered.

Birdability®
Take a drive just a tad South and meet your friends from Sequoia TR and new friends from the Tacoma Bird Alliance (previously Tahoma Audubon Society) at Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge in Olympia, WA for this Birdability® adventure. We will be on the look out for shorebirds, Redtail Hawks, and Sandpipers. This experience is perfect for all abilities. Naturalists and Birdability® Captains will point out and teach us about the birds we see or hear. Unfortunately, this location is outside of the Shuttle and our Pierce Transit Community Van cannot be used outside of Pierce County. We encourage you to make a day of it with family, pack a lunch, and enjoy this special outing with us. Chat with your friends about carpooling. It sprinkles, drizzles, and rains in the PNW - wear proper clothing for the weather.

Birdability®
Meet your friends from Sequoia TR and new friends from the Tacoma Bird Alliance (previously Tahoma Audubon Society) on the East side of Tacoma and explore Swan Creek on this Birdability® adventure. It's not just for mountain biking! Please meet at the dog park. Naturalists and Birdability® Captains will be on the look out for owls, ravens, Red Breasted Sap Suckers, swallows, and Pileated Woodpeckers to point out to our group. Seriously how cool would it be if we spot one of those Woody Woodpecker birds!? This experience is perfect for all abilities. Naturalists will point out and teach us about the birds we see or hear. It sprinkles, drizzles, and rains in the PNW. And on occasion it's hot and sunny - wear proper clothing for the weather.

Lawn Bowls
Enjoy Lawn Bowls Monday evenings at Wright Park on the green. No experience necessary. Due to the fickle nature of the green in spring walker and wheelchair users will need to hold off joining until later in the season when the green is harder. Contact STR for info.
Golf & Footgolf
Meet your friends from Sequoia TR at Meadow Park Golf Course to play golf OR footgolf on the William's Nine. New to footgolf? It's a fun mix of golf and soccer. Use your foot and a soccer ball instead of a club and a golf ball. No experience or gear required.
Golfing? Bring your favorite clubs, or let us know you need to borrow some by answering a few questions.
Each Tuesday evening we will tee off on the William's Nine at 5:30, 5:40, and 5:50. You choose to play footgolf or golf each week, no commitments required.
Try them both we think you'll like it.

Bunco Party
Join us for an entertaining evening at Fircrest Presbyterian Church, where you can engage in a delightful social dice game with your friends following a satisfying supper of soup, salad, and bread. Gather in groups of four to roll the dice for points in the lively game of Bunco. Throughout the evening, expect friendly rotations of seats and tables. Experienced Bunco players will be on hand to ensure everyone has a fantastic time together. Plus, don't miss out on the chance to win exciting mystery prizes at the end of the event. Come join the fun!

We are expecting ducklings, waterfowl, Warblers, Cedar Waxwings, and maybe a Kingfisher. It sprinkles, drizzles, and rains in the PNW - wear proper clothing for the weather.

"Clue" Caper: Whodunnit?
Join us for an evening out at the Theater for a good old fashion whodunit murder mystery performance. Meet us at Curtis High School at 6:30pm for the 7pm production of the play Clue. Take the opportunity to dress up as much as you want. Caregivers / support staff also need to register for this activity so that you do have an admission ticket. What do you think:Professor Plum with the Candlestick in the Ballroom? Or maybe it was Mrs. Peacock with the Wrench in the Library, what's your guess?

Valentines’ Candle Holder Sculpting
Sculpt and mold your own unique candle holder just in time for Valentine's Day. Please meet at Spun pottery studio and get a tour of their new larger location. Artists will be available to prime your creative juices and assist with the project. Interesting project supplies available to help you create unique textures and colors.
